William "Pete" Rodney Plumley, 65, of Switzer, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, in a local hospital. William was born on April 3, 1956, the son of Billy and Lucille Plumley (Marcum), in Logan County, West Virginia. He was raised and schooled in Indianapolis, Indiana. William, affectionately nick-named Pete by his family, spent his childhood in Indiana with his mother, her husband, Junior Betker, and his sister, Katy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting with his siblings and father while in West Virginia, and looking after his youngest sister while in Indianapolis.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1973, serving honorably in Thailand and other countries as a Material Facilities Specialist until he was discharged in 1976. After his military service ended, William settled in Tucson, Arizona. There he enjoyed riding and racing his 10-speed bike, and hunting snakes in the desert. He met Deborah Cox and her three boys while in Arizona. William and Deborah became engaged and moved to Yucaipa, California - they were married on October 30, 1993.

William was a devoted husband and family man - always there for his family. He enjoyed taking vacations and camping trips with his family and going on cruises with his wife. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed watching sports, especially NFL football.

He is preceded in death by his father, Billy Plumley, his mother Lucille Betker; his oldest sister, Sandra "Punkey" Plumley-Mitchem and her husband, Jimmy Mitchem; and his brothers Roger Plumley, Randy Plumley, and Greg Plumley. William is survived by his wife, Deborah Plumley, and their three children - Sean Cox, Adrian Cox, and Nicklaus Wade; his daughter-in-laws Natalie Cox, Charlotte Gertner-Cox, and Teffany Aguilar; his grandchildren Hayley Cox and Nathan Cox; his brother Ronald Plumley, Ronald's wife, Duanne Plumley; his sister Katy "Kayce" Ferguson and Katy's husband, William Ferguson; his nephew Donny Plumley, as well as many more nieces and nephews that he remembered and spoke affectionately of often.

A memorial service is being planned for Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at 5 p.m. in Kingwood, Texas. Service Information A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 5pm until 7 pm at Darst Funeral Home.
