Rhonda Morrell Gordon, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and woman of deep faith, passed away surrounded by the love of her family whose lives are forever better because she was part of them.

Born on February 26, 1962, Rhonda lived a life filled with faith, family, laughter, and a genuine love for taking care of others. She had a quick wit, a wonderful sense of humor, and rarely passed up the opportunity for a good joke or prank. If there was laughter in the room, there was a pretty good chance Rhonda had something to do with it.

Rhonda was a faithful member of New Covenant Church in Humble, Texas, where her faith was an important part of her life. She served as a teacher at the Joshua 1:9 School at New Covenant Church and was also a member of the church’s Women’s Council. She treasured the friendships, fellowship, and time she spent serving her church family.

Outside of church, Rhonda enjoyed some of life’s simple pleasures. She loved spending time by the pool, cheering on her LSU Tigers and Houston Astros, and, most of all, being with the people she loved.

One of the ways Rhonda showed that love was through food. She loved cooking Cajun food for family and friends, and feeding people was truly one of her love languages. A good meal from Rhonda’s kitchen was about much more than what was on the plate—it was her way of saying, “I love you.”

Rhonda was also famously frugal and proudly earned her reputation as the family’s “Coupon Queen.” She loved a good deal almost as much as she loved a good laugh. If there was a coupon, a sale, a rebate, or some combination of all three, Rhonda was probably going to find it. Paying full price when a perfectly good coupon existed simply wasn’t her style.

But beneath her humor and all the things that made Rhonda so uniquely Rhonda was a woman who loved deeply. She loved her family, she loved her church, she loved making people laugh, and she found joy in doing things for others. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit, her generosity, her cooking, her faith, and the unmistakable personality she brought wherever she went.

Rhonda was proceeded in death by her father, Carl Edward Morrell, and her beloved son, Jared Michael Gordon.

She is survived by her loving husband, David Gordon; her daughter, Brandy Nicole Gordon; her son, Matthew David Gordon; and her mother, Dianne Morrell.

She is also survived by her sister, Liz Selman; her brother, Randy Morrell; her nephews, Benjamin Buzzini and his fiancée, Tabitha McCray; Edward Lawrence Collier and his wife, Kelly Collier; Randal Paul Morrell; and Carl Edward Morrell; her nieces, Laura Alexis Buzzini and Ashlei Kay Morrell; her great-nieces, Brinley Elizabeth Buzzini and Addison Nicole Ducotey; and her great-nephew, Karson Alan Ducotey.

Rhonda also leaves behind countless extended family members and friends throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Tennessee, along with her New Covenant Church family and the many people whose lives she touched over the years.

While her family will deeply miss her presence, her laughter, her cooking, her quick comebacks, and undoubtedly her ability to find a deal nobody else knew existed, they will carry with them the countless memories she created and the love she gave so freely.

Rhonda’s life was one of faith, family, laughter, and service to others. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
