Robert (Bob) Walter Braun, 96, passed away on March 30, 2023 in Kingwood, Texas. Born in Irvington, New Jersey on February 25, 1927, he was the son of Florence W. and August E. Braun.

He graduated from Irvington High School in June, 1944 and went to Gettysburg College for a year before being drafted into the Army in July, 1945. Upon completion of infantry training, he was sent to Army Finance School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana. After serving in various finance offices in the United States, he was discharged from Fort Sam Houston, Texas on December 6, 1946 as a Private First Class. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1949. Bob was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.

Bob began his career with Fidelity Union Trust Co. in Newark, New Jersey, where he met his wife Barbara. They married on May 17, 1952. He joined Esso Standard Oil Co. in 1951 working in the Marketing Accounting Center in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Bob studied for a master degree in Finance Marketing at Rutgers University night school. After transferring with Exxon to Pelham, New York, Towson, Maryland and then Houston, Texas in 1976, Bob retired in 1991 after 40 years.

He also served as President of Memorial Point Townhouse Association and Exxon Mobil Retiree Club of Lake Houston in 1995.

Bob is proceeded in death by his wife Barbara. Surviving Bob are his children, Douglas Braun and his wife Stephanie, Donald Braun and his wife Lori, Robert Braun and his wife Tami, and Barbara Dickson and her husband Paul; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Curry and her husband Spencer, Jeffery Braun and his wife Sarah, Tom Guth, David Braun and his wife Meagan, Katherine Carbajal, Madison Braun, Zachary Patterson, Kaitlyn Bostic and Seth Patterson; four great grandchildren, Sebastian Curry, Asher Braun, Lincoln Curry, and Emmett Braun. Bob is also survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Huntington and multiple nieces and nephews and their families.

Bob will join his wife, Barbara, in the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston. The family is planning a celebration of life gathering; date and time to be determined. Service Information Private Inurnment at Houston National Cemetery.
