Obituary

Robert J. "Bob" Camps, 72, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on October 27, 2024. Bob was born in Canisteo, New York. He came to Texas to attend Sam Houston State University, where he met his wife Penny.

Bob and Penny settled in the Kingwood area in 1984. Bob was a dedicated educator at Kingwood Middle School and Creekwood Middle School where he guided with kindness and humor to profoundly impact the lives of his students and colleagues.

Family was the cornerstone of Bob's life. He shared a deep love with his wife, Penny, and took immense pride in his children: Kelly Key (married to Daniel), Leslie Camps, Jennifer Koch (married to Josh), and Eddie Camps. As a grandfather, he adored his grandchildren, Dillon, Savannah, Mercedes, and Brantley, and relished his role as a proud great-grandfather to little Hazle. He was a source of joy and wisdom for them all. He is also remembered by his siblings, Theresa Hughes and Frank Camps (married to Beverly).

He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Frank Camps, his brother-in-law Bill Hughes and his mother and father-in-law Charles and Jean Crank,

Bob was also known for his passion for baseball, especially his unwavering loyalty to the Yankees. Whether cheering for his team or spending time with family, he filled every moment with love and laughter.

A Celebration of Life ceremony for Bob, will be held Saturday, November 9, at 10:30, with reception following at Kingwood Methodist Church in Kingwood, Texas.
