Robert Gerald Guillerman, Jr, 73, a longtime resident of Houston, Texas passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2024. He was born on November 27, 1950, in Morganfield Kentucky to the late Robert Gerald Guillerman and Mildred (Thomas) Guillerman. He grew up in the Overbrook neighborhood of Houston and was a 1969 graduate of Mount Carmel High School in Houston, Texas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Micheall "Shelly" Guillerman, his daughters Sarah, Lauren (husband Paul) and Rachel, his stepsons Forrest (wife Jaymee) and Preston Gray (wife Katelyn), his brothers Mark (Diane) and John, his sisters Mary Anne and Mary Margaret (Bill), his grandchildren Lucio, Ayana, Isandro, Yelena, Dominique, Joaquin, Sofia, Samuel, Alana, Ethan, Evey, Jacob, Evan and Emmy and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Jacob. Robert was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and a wonderful friend to many. He loved and cherished his grandkids to no end and felt so blessed around them.

After high school he attended St. Edwards and the University of Houston but left school when his father passed away. He only had 6 hours left until graduation. He worked at United Parcel Service (UPS) for two years and made it to the level of supervisor before leaving to pursue other interests. He then moved to San Antonio to co-lead a start-up music wholesale one-stop distribution company called Southwest Wholesale Records and Tapes. The San Antonio business did so well that they started a Houston operation with Robert at the head and his brother Mark working alongside him. The Houston branch of Southwest Wholesale, along with the original San Antonio branch, grew to be the largest one-stop for music in the Southwestern United States. Many a record store in the southwest and beyond bought their albums, cassettes, and DVD's from Southwest Wholesale. After a few years in Houston, a new division under Robert's leadership was formed to support local artists attempting to get their music heard. This division helped southern artists get their unique sound and style out to local markets, many of whom went on to nationwide fame.

After Southwest Wholesale ceased operations in 2002, Robert transitioned into a new career as a restauranteur. He and a partner founded Ruggles Green the first eco-friendly "green" restaurant in the Houston area. It started out at one location and branched out to 5 additional locations in the Houston area.

For fun and relaxation, he loved watching sports of any kind. He was passionate about the local Houston professional sports teams (Astros, Texans, Rockets) and the University of Houston collegiate sports teams and he loved to watch the major golf and tennis championships. In addition, he loved the simplicity of getting in a car and driving around all areas of his beloved city of Houston, observing the surroundings and listening to a wide variety of music with the cool air conditioning blasting away in the hot Houston summers. His other passion was simply chatting with and hanging out with family, and childhood friends from grade school, high school and beyond as well as relatives and business contacts. He had a friendly personality where people warmed up to him quite easily. His cell phone would literally ring day and night with calls and text messages from people desiring his expert advice.

We will always love you Robert, until we meet again. The funeral will be at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Road, Kingwood, TX 77339, Saturday, September 14, 2024. At 10am there will be a Rosary for all of those who would like to attend. The Celebration of Robert's Life Service will begin at 10:30am and then be followed by snacks and refreshments.
