Robert
Love
Feb 9, 1943 — Feb 10, 2024
Robert Allen Love, the son of the late William Love and Sadie Jane Cathey Love Lowther, was born February 9, 1943 in Garden City, Kansas. He attended public schools in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, graduating from Sapulpa High School in 1961. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served his country until 1965. While in the Navy, he met the love of his life, Louisa Ann Tamborini, while stationed in San Diego, California and married her on November 21, 1964. After his Navy service, Mr. Love attended his beloved Oklahoma State University on the G.I. Bill, graduating with an accounting degree in 1968. He worked for Shell Oil Company and Superior Oil Company for many years before moving on to quality control management positions in the transportation industry prior to his retirement in 2009.
Mr. Love was a devoted husband and father. For nearly thirty years, he was actively involved in all of his childrens extracurricular activities. He was a huge sports fan and coached his children in all of their sports activities including baseball, softball, basketball, track and field, football, and soccer. He served on many youth athletic boards and was instrumental in bringing sports activities to thousands of children in the New Orleans and Houston areas. "Hey, Coach Love" was a common refrain on the playing fields and in the communities where he lived. He was a staunch believer that playing team sports was a great tool for preparing children for their professional lives by working together to achieve a common goal. He loved the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Houston Rockets and his Oklahoma State Cowboys. He, also, loved his Boston Terriers. For the last forty years, he had Boston Terriers with names beginning with "W" from Wimpy to Wally and many in between.
Mr. Love was survived by his wife, Louisa Ann Love, and his children, Robert Love and wife Jill of Amarillo, TX, Deborah McNeil and husband Steven of Huntsville, TX, Scott Love and wife Mary of Houston, TX and Cheryl Avina and husband Ryan of Kingwood, TX. He had six grandchildren, Shelby, Matthew, Tyler, Dylan, Connor and Emma and two great-grandchildren, Elijah and Abigail.
