Robert Paul Scott was born May 8, 1957 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Robert Pierson and Elizabeth Osborne Scott. He was the third of four children; Carol and Cheryl older, and Ronald younger. Paul attended Arlington schools and graduated from Arlington High School in 1976. He worked at Shop Rite in Arlington from a young age, leaving in 1979 when he and his mother embarked on a month-long trip across the United States. Their final destination being San Jose, CA.
Over the years, Paul worked in grocery stores for Shop Rite, NY & PA, Safeway, CA, and Tom Thumb,TX in various departments. He lived in San Jose & Milpitas, CA, Philadelphia, PA & Ft Worth, TX, always seeking to be near his family. His favorite job of all was being a mason for two years in Yuba County, CA. He told many interesting stories about that job. Paul was a wonderful story teller! He loved sharing his adventures, with details and amusing anecdotes.
Paul's greatest joy of all was being a father to Corrina, Mark and Robert. He loved his children with all his heart. Some of his most entertaining stories were about his children.
Paul lived life to the fullest. He made friends easily and kept them for a lifetime. He was funny, kind, and loyal. His love of life and humor was boundless. Paul told so many stories about things he did, the people who joined him along his journey of life and how he loved them dearly. He never missed an opportunity to tell you that he loved you. He soaked it all in. He would revel in a tree, a breeze, the sound of laughter, birdsong, music, hugs and conversation.
When Paul was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer in December 2023, his life changed dramatically. It became Paul's mission to educate and promote early cancer screening. He fought bravely throughout his cancer journey.
Paul passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his children, Corrina Jones, sons Mark Martinez and Robert P. Scott. His grandchildren Kaitlin, Eddie Michael, Ava, Lily and great grandchildren Adam Louis and Mazie. His surviving siblings are Carol (John) Lacey, Cheryl (Jim) Tansey, and Ronald (Lori) Scott. Paul leaves behind 10 nieces and their spouses, 17 grand nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces, all of whom adored "Uncle Paul."
Paul posted this quote that truly sums up his life:
"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
