On Saturday, August 31, 2024, Rosa Townsend Williams passed away at the age of 91. Rosa Mae Townsend was born on November 27, 1932 in Sarogossa, Alabama to the late Ernest and Mary Townsend. She was preceded in death by brothers Ralph, G. E., Donald, Kenneth Townsend and sister Ann Young.

In 1951, Rosa met her future husband and love of her life while attending Birmingham Southern College. In 1954 Rosa married George "Tom" Williams and shared a loving marriage which spanned 70 years.

Rosa was a loving mother to sons Tom Jr. and Bobby Williams. She went back to school and earned a B. A. in History at the University of Houston and later attended the Glassell School of Art.

Rosa was extremely creative and artistic. She was talented at painting and ceramics.

She left her loved ones with many mementos of her creativity

including colorful knitted blankets, intricate crocheted doilies and handmade clothes for her family, she loved the sewing arts.

Rosa was a voracious reader. From history to mystery novels, she shared a love of books with her family.

Many of her loved ones will best remember her as a gardener who loved flowers and experimenting with plants. One..will remember her as the inspiration for a life long love of gardening.

She enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and has left behind many fond memories of holiday celebrations and family dinners.

Rosa was a serious baseball fan and shared her love of the sport and home team the Houston Astros with her husband Tom.

Rosa is survived by sons Tom Jr. and Robert Williams and grandchildren Nicolas, Ivy and Cameron Williams and Joe Ann Schatte.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
