Roy, William
D.
Aug 17, 1993 — Nov 9, 2021
SSgt William David Roy of the 96th Security Forces Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida passed away on November 9, 2021, at the age of 28.
He was born on August 17, 1993 at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Cy-Woods High School, Cypress, Texas, in 2012. His love for the military began when he joined the Air Force JROTC program in high school. He went on to become the Squadron Commander with the rank of Cadet Major. After graduating from Air Force Basic Training, William was stationed at Eglin Air Force in Florida. He was deployed to Qatar and Afghanistan and received many honors and awards.
William was a very strong, determined young man who planned to continue his military career in the Special Forces. He was known among his flight as a man who was going places and wanted to take everyone with him. Although William had high standards for many things, his quick wit, humor, and loud voice made the moments you spent with him some of the most enjoyable and memorable times anyone could ever have.
A viewing will be held at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Rd., Kingwood, Texas, from 6- 8 PM on November 17. His funeral service will be on Thursday, November 18, 10 AM at Darst with the burial to follow at Houston National Cemetery.
William is survived by his parents Amy and Scott Villwock and David Roy, brothers Michael Villwock and wife Ashley and David Roy, sisters Hannah and Megan Roy, niece Bobbie Ann Roy, grandparents Billy Don and Elizabeth Brown, Lucretia Thompson, and Major and Terry Villwock, his aunts and uncles, many cousins, and his brothers and sisters in arms.
He is preceded in death by his great grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Lim Biddle, his uncle Peter Brown, and great aunt Phyllis Gruner.
Because of William's love for the military and dogs, we ask in lieu of flowers donations be made to K9s For Warriors.
