Obituary

Virginia Maxine Schroeder was born in Racine, Wisconsin on March 5, 1923. Her parents were Alva Phillips and Sara Catherine Phillips. She had two sisters, Dorothy and Helen, and three brothers Art, Vernon and Virgil. She attended school in Racine, Wisconsin. She loved to play softball and when winter froze the local river she loved to ice skate with her "Sonja Heine" ice skates. She married Lowell Schroeder in Slades Corners, Wisconsin on August 5, 1923. They had four children, two sons Lowell and Carl; and two daughters, MaryAnn and Paula Lynn. She was proceeded in death by her husband Lowell, and son Carl. Mimi was a giving mother and wife, always putting the needs of her family before her own. A devout Christian women who truly "walked the walk". She taught Sunday School and Vacation bible school with great patience and energy. She was always helping with the churchs ministry to poor countries, knitting over 150 baby sweaters to send to families at need. Her husband and her family loved the outdoors and she loved to fish. Making many trips to Rice Lake, Wisconsin and Canada with their good friends Harold and Lou Schroeder to stalk the elusive walleye fish. She worked over 20 years at Sheridan Road nursing home taking care of the elderly. She often rode her bike to work and sang hymns to the wind as she rode. When she was finished with work at the nursing home she brought home the patients laundry, and washed and folded clothes into the wee hours of the morning for them. She move to Texas in 1991 to be closer to her daughter and her grandchildren and was a supportive and giving grandma Mimi. She adapted to Texas well and loved being around the animals that shared the Kingsley home. She is Survived by her son, Lowell Schroeder, daughter-in-law Linda Schoeder, daughter MaryAnn Strenad, daughter Paula Lynn Kingsley, son-in-law Michael Kingsley, and daughter-in-law Charlotte Schroeder. Grandchildren, Bryan Schroeder and his spouse Tracy Schroeder, Mark Schroeder & partner Jennifer Eamon, Taylor Kingsley and Dr. Lyndsey Kingsley. Great grandchildren, Shay Owens and Bailey Jo Schroeder. The family appreciates the thoughts and prayers of friends and loved ones, and the care of the nursing staff at Regent Care Nursing home. Especially the friendship and care of Theresa Roberts. Service Information Funeral: A memorial service was held on 2014-05-15 at Darst Funeral Home.
