Mr. Robert Coleman Simpkins

Robert "Coleman" Simpkins, 69, was born the youngest of three children on March 27, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to parents Buford Douglas and Martha Dowlen Simpkins. He went to the Lord on June 6, 2019.

Coleman Simpkins was a lifetime Houstonian. He graduated in 1968 from Saint Thomas' Episcopal School and in 1974 from the University of Houston. Following his education, Coleman spent his career in various marking positions in the Oil & Gas industry.

Coleman was a Ruling Elder and founding member of Providence Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Kingwood, Texas, and Ruling Elder of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in Richmond, Texas.

Coleman is survived by numerous family and friends, including: wife Cherri C. Simpkins; son Stephen A. Simpkins and wife Lorri; daughter Sara C. Maier and husband Conrad; son Timothy D. Simpkins; daughter Mary Ann Gardner and husband Kevin; son Robert Coleman (Collin) Simpkins Jr. and wife Meredith; grandchildren Hailey, Cole, Emma, Drew, and Taylor; brother Buford Douglas (Doug) Simpkins, Jr. and wife Johnette; brother Philip Dowlen Simpkins and wife Holly; nieces and nephews Polly, Phillip Jr., Susan, Christopher, Eric, Stephanie, Ashley and Caramia; in-laws Bruce and Barbara Casper, Steve Chambers, Robin and Peggy Detlefsen, Craig and Sherry Chambers; and numerous close friends.

A special thank you to MD Anderson for providing world-class care. A special shout-out to Nurse Shara, who provided wonderful support to Coleman and family while Coleman was in her care. From Dr. Agarwal to Dr. Yao, and the many doctors in between, the family appreciates the support and treatment during Coleman's long-suffering battle with cancer.

Funeral service will follow at 7:15 pm in the Gardens at Darst Funeral Home. Please wear garden attire (business casual) Interment will follow 10:30 am on Saturday, June 15, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
