Bill Lee "B. Lee" Sutton passed away on October 6, 2018 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 94.

Lee was born September 18, 1924 in Independence, Kansas the only child of Brice Tinker

Sutton and Irma Marie Jenkins. At a young age the family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma

where Brice was employed as a lawyer with the Phillips Oil Corporation.

After graduation from Bartlesville High School Lee was accepted to Oklahoma State

University, in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1942. One year later Lee entered the U.S. Army and was

assigned to the 142nd Engineer Combat Battalion. Lee was deployed to Europe during World

War II where he served his country earning several decorations, including the Bronze Service

Star, until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Lee returned to Stillwater to continue his education where he graduated with a B.A. degree in

Art and Interior Design. While at OSU, Lee joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity and soon after met

his future wife, Catherine "Kay" Virginia Harrup of Waco, Texas, who was a member of Kappa

Alpha Theta Sorority. After both graduated from OSU, Lee and Kay were married in 1949 in

Waco, Texas. The couple recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

In 1951 Lee and Kay moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where Lee began a long career as an

interior designer with the Friend Piper design firm. In addition to his design work, Lee

passionately pursued his love of golf. Lee was also an instructor for many years at Centenary

College and led his Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church.

In 2015 Lee and Kay moved to Kingwood, Texas to be close to family. Lee is survived by his

wife Kay, his son and daughter-in-law Randy and Carol Hetherwick Sutton, his son Robert

Sutton, four granddaughters, Alison Sutton Reynolds and husband Brian Reynolds, Megan

Sutton Garcia and husband Raul Garcia, Kelly Sutton Reeves and husband Clint Reeves, Erin

Sutton Moberley and husband Garrett Moberley, and six great grandchildren. Lee is preceded

in death by his granddaughter Ashley Sutton.

The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers at Landon Ridge Assisted Living

Community for their tireless efforts in caring for Lee. The family requests that in lieu of

flowers, donations be sent in memory of Lee to the Parkinson Foundation, First United

Methodist Church in Shreveport, or a charity of your choice. Service Information Memorial Service: A Celebration of Life was held on 2018-10-14 at Darst Funeral Home. A reception will follow the service
