Obituary

On Saturday, October 7, 2023 Wanda Lee Broussard, mother of two children and three step-sons, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of 11, passed away at the age of 92 in Fulshear, Texas.Wanda was born on November 27, 1930 in Whelen Springs, Arkansas to William Lee & Stella Mae (Molly Sublett) Emmert. She was raised in Chidester, AR through age 13 and lived in Gurdon, AR through age 18. In December 1947, she married her childhood best friend, Harold Gillespie. She finished school and joined Harold in Clarksville, TN in 1948. They moved to back to Arkansas in 1949 where she worked as a secretary for Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot in Camden, AR until 1951 when they moved to Houston, TX. In 1960, they had their first child, Lisa Ann and their second, Harold Martin (Marty) in 1963. They divorced early 1975. Wanda found love again and remarried to Bernie Broussard on October 30, 1976. They enjoyed spending weekends at their beach house in Galveston, TX and having fun with their friends, kids, and grandkids. Wanda had a passion for playing games, sewing, shopping, and decorating for the holidays. She also loved blues/country music and could light up any room with her witty jokes and charming personality.Wanda was preceded in death by her father, William, mother, Molly, sister, Frances, husband, Bernie, and daughter, Lisa. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Marty & Lauren, her step-sons, Wendel & Tina Broussard, Clark Broussard, and Logan & Cary Broussard, her grandkids Amanda & Brian McGovern, Andrea Beck, Stacie & Andrew Sanders, Anthony Gillespie, Steven & Carissa Romantz, Travis Broussard, Wyatt & Jewel Broussard, Justin Broussard, and Alan & Alissa Broussard, and her great-grandkids Kayla Nathan, Kendra Broussard, Brianna & Sabrina McGovern, Wyatt & Kennedy Sanders, Piper Broussard, Theodore Broussard, and Jonah, Asher & Caleb Romantz. Interment Saturday 04 Nov South Park Cemetery 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581
