Josephine Zelie Calvocoressi Tourais, of Kingwood, TX, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2025, at age 84.

In her lifetime, Zelie was defined by her compassion and her devotion to volunteering. She was a proud graduate of the Kingswood Oxford School in Connecticut, serving as the class secretary her entire life. After high school, Zelie received a Bachelor's degree in Art History from Smith College and a Master's degree in Art History from Hunter College. She found her calling as the Curator of Education at The Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami, Florida before becoming the Volunteer Coordinator at Texas Children's Hospital. In her later years, she continued this good work with the Kingwood Women's Club - focusing her volunteering at The Gathering Place and Kingwood's Folk Library. Her love of the Folk Library was driven by her life-long passion for reading—particularly the mysteries of Agatha Christie.

Zelie had an extraordinary capacity for finding the good in all, and that warm sensibility allowed her to maintain myriad relationships far and wide. She will be remembered for her generosity of heart, strength of spirit, and love of family life.

Zelie is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Patrick; her children, Valerie Harris (Chris) and John Tourais (Rachel); her grandchildren, Madeleine, Elise, Lauren and Max; and her brothers, Lee and Thomas. Her legacy of love will continue to live on through them. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Calvocoressi.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 30, at 4:00PM at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
