OBITUARY

On Saturday, July 27, 2019, Christopher James Schod, friend of many and father of three, passed away at age 59.

Chris was born on September 22, 1959 in Saginaw, MI to James and Kay (Darland) Schod. He grew up in and around the Saginaw area spending most of his time in Merrill where they lived and went to school. To this day, many still reflect on the doings of “The Schod Boys.” He graduated in 1977 and started his apprenticeship in Bay City, Michigan.

In 1980, Chris moved to Houston bringing half of his graduating class, and he still had many close relationships with those classmates today. He worked as an electrician for 41 years, and became a master electrician with IEC in 2003, putting his heart and soul into everything he did. He married Stacey Kriston in 1984. They raised 3 children together, Brandon, Madison and Taylor.

Over the years, his biggest passion has always had an engine. From minibikes to 4-wheelers to motorcycles and hot rod cars. He also enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to fish and spend time at the beach with family, or just work in the yard. Chris also loved cooking for his family and friends. BBQing chicken, smoking brisket and ribs, frying turkeys, and boiling crawfish were just a few of his favorites.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Jim, and his mother, Kay. He is survived by his three children: Brandon (Kathryn) Schod, Madison (Will) Jay & Taylor Schod, granddaughter, Charlotte, his love Anita Juda, brothers Jeff (Ruth), Dave (Jodi) & Joe, sister Nicole (Brandon) Barber, Uncle Dewey Darland, Aunt Kareen Frost and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Chris was the spark in many people’s life. Just being around him made people happy. He was full of love and saw the good in everyone. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile and his kind, compassionate heart. He always knew that “Everything is going to be ok.”
