Jane grew up in Queen City, Texas and graduated from Atlanta High School. Then she graduated from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas where she met several life-long friends. She began her career as a teacher in Raymondville, Texas in 1948. There, she met Robert (Bob) Studebaker and they married July 29, 1950. Jane loved to dance, and she and Bob traveled all over Texas going to different dances with friends. They loved country western and polka dancing.
