OBITUARY

Ronald Gene Mitchell, born April 22, 1928, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2019 and is now rejoicing in heaven. He is survived by his 4 children: Gene Mitchell and wife Joan, Phyllis Dacus and husband Ronnie, Mark Mitchell and wife JoAnn, and Jeff Mitchell. He adored and was loved by his 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was proud of his profession as a brick mason and loved talking about the many jobs he was part of all around Houston and in the early years in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Arkansas.
After retirement, he and Meta did enjoy some traveling and working together in the yard. Well to be honest, she loved the flower beds and he helped because he loved her. He picked up wood working as a hobby and made many beautiful pieces from crosses, cutting boards, furniture, shelves, rocking horses and play desks. He treasured time spent teaching and working with 2 of his grandsons on their projects.

He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.

He was an active member of St Matthew Lutheran Church in Westfield TX for over 60 years, where he taught Sunday School for many years and volunteered with many projects thru the years. He was a Boy Scout troop leader for a number of years as well. He enjoyed the many visits from Pastor Boggs when he was no longer able to attend services.
He was a great man who loved the Lord, his family and friends. Although he will be missed, we have the assurance of life everlasting in heaven.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St Matthew Lutheran Church, Westfield (21434 E Hardy Rd, Houston 77073) Visitation begins at 10:00 and the service begins at 11:00, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
