Joan Smith, 76, of Livingston, Texas passed on Saturday, November 23, 2019.
She was born in Harrisburg, PA to John and Mabel Helfrich. She was married to
her one true love, Robert Earl Smith, until his death in 2013. She worked in
HISD for many years before becoming an apartment manager. She loved being
around people. Joan’s greatest love and passion was her family. She loved any
and all family get-togethers, especially the holidays. She loved to garden, cook
and shop.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Helfrich; husband,
Robert Earl Smith; sons, Cory New and Tracy Earl Smith; and, her sisters, Pat Shonk and
Florence Senulis.
She is survived by her Brother, Paul Helfrich, her Children Eric New, Kevin New, Darren Halsey, Sharon
Setzler and husband Von, and Sheena Eaton and husband Mike; Grandchildren Ashley
New, Eric New Jr, Cole New, Patrick New, Nicholas New, Dystanie Poe, Savannah Halsey, Shay Myers and husband Storm, Brian Perkins and wife Krystal and Shaun Perkins and wife Sumer; Great Grandchildren Sarah Joan Gillen, Nathan Dru Savino, Jaycie Emery, Camdyn Perkins, Adelle Perkins, Brodie Perkins, Bailey McGuire, Kaydn McGuire and Ashlyn McGuire. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Joan will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Houston National Cemetery.
A graveside service will take place on Monday, December 2, 2019 at Houston National Cemetery at 2:30pm. Attendees are asked to arrive in Lane 1 for her inurnment.
