Burkett, Karen E.

Karen Elayne Burkett, of Kingwood, Texas, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 10, 2020. Born in Houston Texas, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Lee and Dorothy Faye Moody.

Karen was a graduate of Humble High School and earned Bachelor of Science Degrees in Biology and Microbiology from Texas A&M University, as well an additional certification in Medical Technology from the University of Texas Health Science Center.  She worked her entire career as a Medical Technologist, most recently with LabCorp.

Karen’s faith in Christ was strong and she was a member of Kingwood First Baptist Church.  Her greatest joy was her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Jacob and Aaron Burkett and one daughter, Natalie Burkett. Also surviving are two sisters, Marla Layne (Barb) and Janice Porter (Aaron) as well as her former spouse, Henry Burkett, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen is predeceased by her brothers, Marvin Allen, Kevin and Timothy Moody.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Kingwood First Baptist Church, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX  77339 with a reception for family and friends immediately following in the church fellowship hall.

Floral remembrances may be sent to Kingwood First Baptist Church, or in lieu of flowers, the family requests that honorariums be sent to Striking Against Breast Cancer www.strikingagainstbreastcancer.org.


Service Information

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Kingwood First Baptist Church, 3500 Woodland Hills Drive, Kingwood, TX  77339 with a reception for family and friends immediately following in the church fellowship hall.
