OBITUARY

Martha Busch, 65, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 10th at home with her family in Kingwood. She was born Martha Anne Whitby on January 17, 1955 to her mother Therese Marie Cherrie and James Edward Whitby in Erie, PA and was the second of four children. She grew up in Erie and attended Harbor Creek High School and then Robert Morris College in Pittsburg. In 1980, she moved to New Orleans and started a career at Richardson Geophysical. She was transferred to Houston in 1983 where she met the love of her life, Robert Christopher Busch. They were married in 1985. Robert was born in 1987 followed by Annie in 1989. Chris and Martha would have celebrated their 35th anniversary this month. Marty was a resident of Kingwood for 30 years.

Marty was a lifelong Catholic and loved Jesus. She worked at Silverado Senior Living for eight years where she spent her time bringing joy and enrichment into the lives of their memory care residents. Later, she ran the Second Family Ministry for St Martha’s Catholic Church in Kingwood providing respite for carepartners in the Kingwood community.

Marty loved her family first and foremost. She enjoyed people, her many friends, her Christian faith, travel, gardening, animals, walking and music. She was a fantastic cook.

She is survived by her husband, Chris, her children Robert and Annie, her step-children Allison and Eric, three step-grandsons Eliot Busch, Julian and Sebastian Zukawski, her siblings Marlene Whitby and Jimmy Whitby, nephew Tim Bowen, niece Destiny Whitby and numerous other friends and family who will miss her greatly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Rhea Whitby and her nephew Zach Whitby.

A celebration of life is planned for this summer and will be held at St Martha’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association.

  1. Martha was a delight. Her high energy and the will to get meaningful things done were powerful parts of her dynamic personality. And Martha cares deeply for other people who were experiencing challenges in their lives. All of us that knew her will miss her greatly.

  2. June and I were greatly blessed to have known and been great friends with Martha since she met and married Chris. We will always remember her calm spirit that could deal with whatever was thrown at her with grace, a smile and laughter. One of our favorite remembrances was her dry sense of humor and what a great storyteller she was … and being married to Chris certainly gave her lots of stories to tell!! She loved life to the fullest. Always gracious and wanting to engage with people in order to get to know them, a unique gift. Her strong faith was a testimony to everyone and we know that in the blink of an eye June and I be with her for eternity – what a joy that will be!! The fact that God called her Home on Easter Weekend will always be a special remembrance.

  3. My most sincere condolences. Marty, you will be missed, and remembered here, but God has you by his side now, and it’s nice to know you are now making Heaven a better place for others.

  8. Martha was a wonderful woman. I was privileged to know her as a very caring staff member
at Silverado and later as the one who stepped up for 2nd Family when we needed a leader. Chris, you both have been through a lot in recent years. I hope you find peace and comfort as time passes.

  9. There are two words that immediately came to mind when I heard the sad news of Martha dying: Strength snd Faith. In recent years Martha had many opportunities to demonstrate both – which she did in her own quiet way. I had the pleasure of spending a few days of quality time with her when she and Chris came to visit Pebble Beach. We were celebrating her victory overcoming her physical Illness. And we all had such a marvelous time that I will long cherish. There is no doubt that she served her time in purgatory while here in earth and was in the nonstop express lane to heaven last Friday. How appropriate that it was Good Friday and that she shared that in common with her savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, with whom she will Rest In Peace throughout eternity.
