OBITUARY

Roberta A. Lindly, 83, of Kingwood, Texas, peacefully entered into an eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on May 25, 2020. Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Lindly, and her daughter, Laurie Lindly.

Roberta Annette, daughter of Helen and Raymond Elliott was born December 1, 1936 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Roberta graduated from Lubbock High School. She attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree and a Minor in English. Roberta married Hershel Randal Lindly, and they shared 56 years of marriage. They raised two daughters Michelle, and Laurie.

A dedicated mother, wife, and sister, Roberta loved her Lord, her family, and the sisterhood of P.E.O. She was a lifelong member of P.E.O. and served as president of her Chapter. Roberta recomposed the opening Ode for P.E.O. Displaying the heart of servant, she spent many hours as a church and hospital volunteer.

In high school, she was a member of the state choir. While attending Texas Tech, Roberta was selected to be in the Mortar Board Society. As a member of the Texas Tech Choir, she sang on the Ed Sullivan Show. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

It has been said that of all the books in the world, the best stories can be found between pages of passports. Roberta certainly proved this adage true and was an enthusiastic traveler. She especially loved family travel trips. When one trip was winding down, Roberta was already planning the next! She was adventurous and curious. When Roberta wasn’t traveling, she was playing her Steinway grand piano. Music was among her many passions in life and it brought joy and comfort to many.

Roberta is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lindly, her sister Phyllis Robinson, her niece, Sharla Davenport, her nephew, Steven Metz, her grandchildren, Weston Wooddell, Jordan Wooddell, Frank Jackson, Ashley Lindly, and her great grandchildren, Paisley Wooddell, Penelope Wooddell, Addie Wooddell and Julien Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Kingwood United Methodist Church, Music Dept., 1799 Woodland Hills Dr., Kingwood, Texas 77339 or to the Raymond Elliott Family Cottey College Scholarship Fund through the P.E.O.
