OBITUARY

Susan Pratt Coles, age 69, of Atascocita/Kingwood passed away on Sunday, October 18th, 2020.

Private funeral services will be held at Darst Funeral Home.

Susan was born on May 16, 1951 in Geneva, NY the daughter of the late Leon and Jacqueline Pratt.  She graduated from Nazareth College and later from Stephen F. Austin State University.  She started her teaching career at St. Patrick’s Elementary in Seneca Falls, New York and worked as an elementary school teacher in Texas and New York for 38 years.  She retired in 2013.  Susan was inducted into the Mu Pi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gama International Society for Key Women Educators in 2019.

She is survived by her children Matthew (Darla) Coles of Baltimore, Maryland, Ryan Coles of Cascade Locks, Oregon and Whitney (Lance) Coles Gordon of Katy, Texas; brother David (Vicki) Pratt of Geneva, New York; grandchildren Cassie, Nolan and Abigail; nephew Michael “M.J.”(Diane) Calabrese of Pittsford, New York; nieces Lindsay (Frank) Calabrese Mikloucich of Wilmington, North Carolina, Caitlin (James) Pratt Krueger of Geneva, New York, and Chelsea Pratt of Geneva, New York.

To her grandchildren, she was known as Goma.  To her children, she was Mom.  To her beloved friends, she was Susan.

Special thanks to Susan’s nursing staff at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and all her family and friends that supported the family through this difficult time.

Service Information

Services for Susan Coles will be held here at Darst Funeral Home on Friday, October 23rd. Visitation times are from 10 am to 11 am for immediate family, and 11 am to 12 pm for the public. The service will commence at 12 pm, and at this time the casket will be closed.

  1. I am so very sorry to hear of Susan’s passing. She was a wonderful, kind and generous friend. Prayers and love to all her family. Her laughter and light in this world will be missed. God rest your sweet soul.
