OBITUARY

On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Kathryn Kay Palm, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 73.  Kathy battled dementia for the past several years, and suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in late October from which she was unable to recover.

Kathy was born on December 2, 1946 in LeMars, Iowa to Niels and E. Louise (Albrecht) Kloster.  She attended Westmar College in LeMars and The University of South Dakota in Vermillion. On October 12, 1968, she married Kenneth Palm.  They were blessed with two children, Kristine and Kevin. Kathy worked in the administrative offices at JCPenney in Tulsa, OK and Houston, TX for 10 years and as an office manager for Creative Retail Packaging in Houston, TX for 20 years.

Kathy had a passion for singing; she sang in the church choir and particularly enjoyed performing in Christmas cantatas.  She also enjoyed weekly bowling leagues and several lady’s bridge groups.  Ken and Kathy travelled extensively, visiting all 50 states and collecting souvenir plates from each.  Kathy also enjoyed playing the Double Diamond Slot machines on trips with friends to Las Vegas and Louisiana – some trips more success than others.  Her absolute favorite pastime was spoiling her five grandchildren – Bryce, Kaylie, Chase, Corey and Kara.  She always enjoyed a good conversation and added humor to each day.  She had a strong faith, always believing and trusting in God’s word, and projecting that faith throughout her life to those around her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Terry Kloster and Vernon Kloster.  She is survived by her husband Ken; her sisters Ellen Bohlken and Darlene Yovonie, brothers Vaugn Kloster and Darwin Kloster; two children Kristine Richardson (and her husband Derek) and Kevin Palm (and his wife Courtney); five grandchildren Bryce, Kaylie and Chase Richardson, and Corey and Kara Palm; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
