Jason Wayne Denson was granted a new badge of honor in the early morning hours of November 9th, 2020. His final days were surrounded by family and friends that Jason had touched in some way or another throughout his adventurous and memorable life. He remained anchored even with being diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. Jason battled for 3 years courageously, whereas others would have sunk. He walked through life with honor, pride, laughter and strength embedded in the man that he was. People respected and admired him; for his sense of humor, quick wit, loyalty, and everything he stood for. Jason, a boy scout at heart, loved to camp, be in nature, and loved it even more when he spent it with family. Better known as the “Music Man”, his love and knowledge for music was untouchable. He had a knack for knowledge, you could ask him one thing and he would tell you 10 things. He always had an answer and left you with a piece of him. What a humble and kind man he was, and we all truly loved and respected him. Your name will never be in vain Jason.
His adventures started on July 10th 1974 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri where he lived until grade school. His family then relocated to Mandeville, Louisiana where he spent the greater part of his childhood. Upon graduating high school in 1992, Jason enlisted into the U.S. Navy. He served 4 years of active duty during Desert Shield on the USS Oldendorf traveling all over the world. After earning an honorable discharge with many service medals, he found his way to Houston Texas where he met Heather, his wife, best friend, and life partner. Jason and Heather traveled all over, lived in many places, and made countless memories. Walking through life together touching many people on their way. Not only was he a wonderful son, loving husband, best friend to many, and a respectable soldier, he was the ultimate fighter. We all know that we will never have another Jason Denson, another Den Dog, or another JJ. We should feel honored that God gave us such a gift.
Jason is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Heather Denson, devoted parents Susan and Bruce Gillespie, Bill and Deborah Denson. His siblings Eric, Aaron, Kyle, Nathan, Phillip, Nick and Jacqueline. As well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and lots of cousins. He surrounded himself with many friends from all over.
He loved God and country.

I never had the chance to meet Jason personally. But I have heard so many wonderful things from his lovely wife Heather who is one of my very dear friends. Every time I seen Heather I would always ask her how Jason was doing. Thank you Jason for serving this country. Thank you for loving your family friends and Heather unconditionally. You have fought a good fight. Fly high Jason! May you rest in heaven. May you rest in power. God bless you!
