  2. Michael and I were a “couple” back in High School when his Family lived in Fairview, Pa. We really were forever friends though and recently began corresponding regularly after I became a widow. We were planning on seeing each other and visiting on the other side of Covid. I cannot believe he is gone, he was so looking forward to and planning his retirement in May. The world is a poorer place with his being gone, he was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. God Speed my dear Friend.

  3. Mike was truly a gentle soul and a kind gentleman. It was my pleasure to work with him at IRS. Not only was he supremely intelligent and approached his technical work with rigor and expertise, he also made all involved comfortable and at ease as if with a life long friend. He will be sorely missed.

  4. Mike was one of my cousins that I spent a lot of time with throughout the years. Mike was a gentle soul, easy going, thoughtful, intelligent, and just fun to be with. I spoke to Mike the night before he died. We were making plans to see each other. Sadly my mom pasted away a few days earlier and he would have been at her funeral. My daughter is getting married in April and he would have been sitting at my table. Mike was one of the few people to call me Billy. He and my sister Kathy were born on the same day. July 4th was a very special day for our families. We always celebrated their birthdays together for many years. So many great memories. Mike will be missed.

  5. No one worked harder to get the right result than Mike throughout his career. He will be missed by all who knew and worked with him.

  6. I send my deepest sympathy to Mike’s family. I’ve worked with Mike for many years in IRS Appeals. Mike embodied the best qualities of a civil servant and an employee of the IRS. Mike was extremely knowledgeable and personable. He had a great sense of humor and made everyone comfortable no matter the situation. I’ve been with the IRS for 37 years now, and have worked with many people, but Mike was one of kind, the very best kind. RIP Mike.

  7. My condolences to the family. Our work family will definitely miss Mike. He was a very nice and would always lend a hand or point of view.

  8. Mike was not only a former co-worker of mine, but a friend. His restaurant recommendations such as Lou Malnati’s in Chicago and Star Pizza in Houston were spot on. However, the most memorable was his intellectual creativity. He will truly be missed!

  9. Mike was part our family for 8 years. Thank you for being in my life and you will stay in my heart forever! Im an orphaned without you.

  10. Sending my sincere condolences to Mike’s family and dear friends. I am another of his IRS Appeals co-workers. While I only met Mike in person once time (for a week of training), he was someone who helped me in my professional career immensely. As a new ATCL in 2015, I learned quickly that Mike was a terrific resource for technical assistance yet a kind man, generous with his time. For instance, the Friday afternoon immediately before he passed away, he was helping another Appeals Officer with a question. He reached out to some others for our opinion and finished up with a solution for the young Appeals Officer about 7:00 PM on Friday night. A dedicated public servant was one Mr. Michael Todd.

  11. Sending my sincere condolences to Mike’s family and dear friends. I am one of Mike’s co-workers and will miss him a lot. Mike loved the law, tax, and Appeals- things which I also hold dear to my heart. Mike had a lot of patience and although he had many years of experience, he still took the time to reach out to me on a regular basis to encourage me or debate a legal issue or share valuable knowledge. Just today, one of his email’s popped up on my task list regarding an important tax law case he thought I should read.

  12. I am so sorry to see this. Mike and I were to meet up a few weeks ago. I had been calling and emailing, but received no answers. A friend suggested I google him and I found this. I am so sorry for the family’s loss. Mike was a friend and mentor to me. We last spoke around Thanksgiving I think. This hits me hard. Mike was such a generous and kind soul. He was full of knowledge regarding our shared interests. Prayers for the families he was a part of. To me he was a wise uncle. – Sandy Law HGCA Member

  13. Alas, we have been looking for Mike to join the Fairview High School reunion this coming summer. Such a shock to hear of his passing. He, from an early age, has been a dear friend, highly respected and a wonderful Soul. He will be missed. RIP Dear Friend!

  14. Mike and I became friends when he was assigned as the ATCL on my cases. He loved to talk about his family and college football, especially the University of Houston and my favorite teams. After our cases were resolved, Mike provided valuable insight into IRS Appeals. He was always willing to answer a question for me. I will miss talking to him during the upcoming college football season. I was shocked to learn of his passing and saddened that he never got to retire. My heartfelt condolences to Mike’s family.
