Adams, Clifford T.

Clifford Thomas Adams, an adventure seeker and world traveler, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021 in Kingwood, Texas at the age of 72.

He is survived by his wife, Moira Adams; his children, Angela, Samantha, Tiffany, Christopher and Vanessa, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Clifford is also survived by his siblings Virginia, Kenneth and Deborah. He was preceded in death by his sister Tania and grandson Dusty.
Clifford was born into humble beginnings in Bay Springs, Mississippi on St Patrick’s Day in 1948. He got his first taste of working internationally in Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela and never looked back. Clifford’s career in maintenance control spanned multiple continents and left an impact in Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Cameroon, Niger and Tanzania.
He retired as a diplomat from the U.S. Department of State in 2013 and was proud of his accomplishments. Clifford loved telling stories about the people he met around the world and always said that he lived a life richer and fuller than most men.
Clifford didn’t want a service but asked to have his ashes scattered along the waters of the Mississippi River. Instead of condolences, Clifford would want you to travel abroad and see how others live. He truly believed that by experiencing different cultures, it promotes a better understanding of yourself.

What a shock to learn of Cliff's passing. He was a bright light and an amazing friend. I could not have made it through three years in Yaounde without his cherished friendship. I will never forget sharing stories of Louisiana and cooking crawfish for parties we held. He adored his family and friends and was a true Patriot. Rest in Peace, my friend.

We served with Cliff in Niamey, Niger and were saddened to hear of his passing. He would always delight the kids with baby hedgehogs that he found in the garden, and he took a real pride in his work and innovative ways for keeping the Embassy grounds beautiful. A sweet soul that will be missed.

I met Cliff while working for the Peace Corps in Niger. I recall meeting him somewhere over lunch and quickly connecting over our shared history of coastal Louisiana. To this day, I have permanently logged his sage advice for dealing with people. He was a positive and honest man. RIP.

My heartfelt condolences to Cliffords family especially Moira and to their girls. I was blessed to be friends with Moira and Clifford during my many years in Saudi Arabia and they were key to my safe departure and return to Canada. He was always kind and caring and I feel he always looked out for others and tried to help where he could. He and Moira were never far from my thoughts and I will truly miss him. Rest in peace Cliff! I worked with your husband, father, grandfather in Niamey, Niger. One afternoon I asked him if he could help me with a project. He of course agreed and I took him to a squatter school for children ages 3 1/2 to 5. I had purchased swings to put on swing set without swings and asked him if he could help me install them. When we arrived he was teary eyed at how little they had and said yes, we can do this and more... He of course helped with the swing installation but, then he returned every week after with food, supplies and treats for the children. Clifford was always willing to help and to teach always with an open heart and open mind. May all of you remember him with happy memories, he was a kind man and he will certainly be missed.

While in Cameroon, i was his guard working in his residence. He was our master but considered us as his children and took good care of us through his generosity. His name was a household name at the American Embassy, Yaounde, as a result of the transformation and innovation he carried out in there. When he left Cameroon, we remained friends on facebook untill his demise i learned through facebook. I terribly miss him. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
