On Friday, February 12, 2021, Emerita (Stell) Pletcher died peacefully at age 86, surrounded by her family. Emerita was born on March 26, 1934 as the youngest of eight children to Arthur and Eugenia Stell in Houston, Texas. Emerita attended University of St. Thomas where she graduated in 1956, and met the love of her life, Thomas.
Thomas and Emerita were married on November 28, 1957 and raised their children in Channelview, Texas where there was always an abundance of food in their kitchen. If you happened to be a visiting friend or family member on Cedar Lane, you would be invited to share in the feast. The family attended St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church and operated Coastal Reporting Service.
Em enjoyed spending time with her family at her home in Huffman, Texas, reading on her Kindle, solving the crossword puzzle and keeping us all up to date on current events, recipes and other important information from the newspaper that she felt we needed to know.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Clement Pletcher, her two eldest children, Mary Elizabeth Pletcher and Mark Thomas Pletcher, parents Arthur and Eugenia Stell, and great grandson Micah Thomas Batson.
She is survived by her Sons: John Pletcher (Debbie), Brian Pletcher (Jennifer), and Roger Pletcher; Daughter: Theresa Thompson (Bill); Sister: Dorothy Stasky (Ronald); 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Emerita’s life on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1:00pm at Armenta’s
Reception Hall at 823 Sheldon Rd, Channelview, TX 77530.
