Violes “Vi” Emma Henry, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully in Kingwood, Texas on April 18, 2021, the birthday of her beloved husband Mike who preceded her in death. Vi was born in Minnesota in 1925, the second eldest of nine children. She graduated from Arcadia High School in Wisconsin and worked at a furrier company before moving to Lima, Ohio to work at a cannery. She married Michael Henry in Lima, Ohio in 1956. They were married for 60 years before his death in 2016. After moving from Lima (with the birth of Debbie and Michael III), Buffalo (with the birth of Pam), Boston (with the birth of Nancy), Morristown, NJ (with the birth of Craig), Cleveland, and Dallas, Vi and Mike settled in the Kingwood community in 1980.
In Buffalo and Boston, she bowled routinely with her husband, earning several trophies. Later, in Dallas, she took up doubles’ tennis. Vi was renowned for her baking skills, making exquisitely designed specialty cakes for weddings and birthdays. She excelled in playing both regular and duplicate bridge with countless Kingwood friends. She leaves behind five children, two daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren who will miss her love and support. She was 95. A visitation will be held at Darst Funeral Home on Thursday, April 29, 2020 at 6pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Martha's Catholic Church.
