Hoke, Marie A.

OBITUARY

Marie was called home to meet her lord on July 1st, 2021 at 9:52pm after years of facing multiple health issues. Marie Annette (Walker) Hoke was born on June 13th, 1952 to Rhiney and Victoria Walker in Miles City, Montana. Marie grew up surrounded by her loving siblings Thomas (Stan), Jimmy, Peggy, and Robin.

After graduating Baker High School in Baker, Montana in 1970, (where Mike graduated in 1972), Marie Walker decided to pursue her lifelong dream and went on to study nursing at a junior college.  After two years of hard work putting herself through college, she graduated in 1972 and was nominated to be the president of the second nursing class in Miles City, Montana.  With her A.B. in nursing, Marie decided to further her education and went on to obtain her B.S. in nursing from Montana State University in 1975.

In 1978 she married Michael Hoke and from this union, they went on to have three children Gabriel Hoke, Victoria Hoke, and David Hoke.  While raising her wonderful kids, her family lived in Oregon and different countries around the world because of her husband’s career in the oilfield.  As a child growing up in a small town in Montana, Marie Hoke never imagined the places life would take her and places she would see.  After globetrotting around the world, Michael Hoke’s oilfield career would take her to Kingwood, Texas in 1993. She never looked back and built her “Chapel”  in her Texas home.

Aside from raising two wonderful boys in Texas and spoiling her two grandsons Jacob and Matthew, Marie felt her calling in life was spreading her strong belief in her Catholic Faith.   Marie taught C.C.E. and confirmation for over 18 years at St Martha’s Church in Kingwood.  Due to her affinity for the Virgin Mary, Marie was affectionally nicknamed “The medal lady” providing all her students / friends with miraculous medals and bibles.  The impact she had on her students will never be forgotten as she touched so many students by pouring her heart and soul into every single class.

As part of her faith Marie was able to fulfill her lifelong ambition to visit Lourdes and the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal in France with her family.

Marie Hoke was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Tory.  Marie is survived in death by her loving husband (Michael), sons (Gabe and David), and two grandsons (Jacob and Matthew) from her oldest Gabriel and his wife Mary.  Marie is also survived by her extended family and all of those she has touched along the way.

Pallbearers: Gabe Hoke, David Hoke, Mike Hoke, Jake Hoke, James Hoke, Tom Walker

  21. As with many families, Thanksgiving has always been the sweetest holiday for us – the height of our holiday season. But for generosity, joy, warmth and love, the Thanksgiving I spent in the Hokes’ home-away-from-home in Libya, 1981, matches any our family ever celebrated. That was thanks to Marie and Mike. And because of them, dozens of us were among ‘family’ on that special holiday. God’s love and grace for you, Marie, and for you Mike, Gabe, David, and your extended families.

Leave A Condolence
