OBITUARY

SSgt William David Roy of the 96th Security Forces Squadron, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida passed away on November 9, 2021, at the age of 28.

He was born on August 17, 1993 at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas. He graduated from Cy-Woods High School, Cypress, Texas, in 2012. His love for the military began when he joined the Air Force JROTC program in high school. He went on to become the Squadron Commander with the rank of Cadet Major. After graduating from Air Force Basic Training, William was stationed at Eglin Air Force in Florida. He was deployed to Qatar and Afghanistan and received many honors and awards.

William was a very strong, determined young man who planned to continue his military career in the Special Forces. He was known among his flight as a man who was going places and wanted to take everyone with him. Although William had high standards for many things, his quick wit, humor, and loud voice made the moments you spent with him some of the most enjoyable and memorable times anyone could ever have.

A viewing will be held at Darst Funeral Home, 796 Russell Palmer Rd., Kingwood, Texas, from 6- 8 PM on November 17. His funeral service will be on Thursday, November 18, 10 AM at Darst with the burial to follow at Houston National Cemetery.

William is survived by his parents Amy and Scott Villwock and David Roy, brothers Michael Villwock and wife Ashley and David Roy, sisters Hannah and Megan Roy, niece Bobbie Ann Roy, grandparents Billy Don and Elizabeth Brown, Lucretia Thompson, and Major and Terry Villwock, his aunts and uncles, many cousins, and his brothers and sisters in arms.

He is preceded in death by his great grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Lim Biddle, his uncle Peter Brown, and great aunt Phyllis Gruner.

Because of William’s love for the military and dogs, we ask in lieu of flowers donations be made to K9s For Warriors.

  1. Amy, I am so saddened by the passing of William. Although I did not know him well, I know he was a fine young man. His service to our country and his military record speaks for itself to his character and integrity. I would have loved to have known him better. My prayers are for you and all the family, and a grateful salute to your William.

  2. I remember the first time i met William he was young. His smile said it all. My thoughts and healing prayers go out to all of you. I would of been there if i could of flown. 5. William “Roy” as we know him, is an exceptional young man with a really big heart. He lived life to the fullest and on his terms. He will always have a special place in the hearts of the entire Walker family.

  6. Roy is a one of a kind person and will forever be in our hearts. I’m so glad I was blessed to have countless memories and laughs with him.

  7. https://darstfuneralhome.com/obituary/7665/ I’ll miss my nephew William and never forget his laugh. So honored to have taken him hunting and fishing with his cousin Joshua to harvest his first deer and hog. William’s military roots run deep as his dad (my brother served in the Air Force before him). I still remember the last practical joke William played on me. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. Do not let the sun go down on your anger. Forgive and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.

  8. I’m so sorry for your loss. May the peace that passes all understanding be ever present with you and the family. I haven’t stopped praying and thinking of your family.
