Kay was the youngest of 3 children. She moved to Texas right out of high school and attended Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas with a BA degree in fashion design. Although she was born in Russellville, she grew up mostly in Sherwood, Arkansas, and lived all over, in Denton, Austin, Corsicana, Richardson, Houston, Texas, Miami, Florida and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Kay was a vivacious, strong and creative woman, who designed and made clothes for her fashion design and for both her children and even her grandchildren. She was called “Ma” by her grandchildren and was known to find inventive ways to make gifts for their birthdays and holidays.

Kay married Joe, the love of her life, in St. Lucia on November 27, 2008 and spent many happy years together in Kingwood, Texas. She even made her own wedding dress for that special day. Although they met late in life, they acted as if they had been together for decades, and they loved each other very much. Kay was fond of the southwest mountains and took a trip up to Utah with Joe. It was there that they both agreed that they want their ashes to be spread across the Moab Desert.

Her sense of humor, usually sarcastic in nature, was one of her defining features, we believe that it is genetic, as well as her beautiful red hair, her unique, strong sense of self-worth and her keen fashion sense, some may say she was ahead of her time. She was never afraid of a challenge, would put her whole body and soul into whatever she did, and was an independent person who spoke her mind. She was the type of person that if you met her once, you would never forget who she was.

Kay enjoyed sewing, crafts that could challenge her, dressing up, being barefoot, collecting shot glasses and singing and dancing toys, was a huge fan of the University of Arkansas football team and her landscape design on her backyard with her beloved pond full of koi fish.
