Mr. Jimmy Ray “Jim” Bice went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at home in Humble, Texas at the age of 78.
Jim is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandria; two sons, Jeffery Mark Bice and wife Gloria of New Caney, Texas and Timothy Alan Bice and wife Shellie of Kingwood, Texas; four grandchildren, Jeffery Allen Bice of Humble, Texas, Jason Andrew Bice and wife Lauren of Austin, Texas, Reagan Blake Bice and wife Melanie of Humble, Texas, Jonathan Mikel Bice of Humble, Texas; and 2 great grandchildren, Julia Alys Bice and John Atticus Bice. He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Day Bice and mother Emma Eva Bice, of Shreveport, Louisiana.
Jim was born on August 4, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Arthur Bice and mother Eva Bice. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1954. He married Sandria Hodnett, his sweetheart in 1959. While in Shreveport, Jim worked for Cities Service Oil Company, Western Electric, and Ford Motor Company. He owned his own business in association with AMC theaters. Jim proudly served 8 years in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1962 as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He was a patriot who loved his country. Jim was a Christian and member of the Lake Houston Church of Christ. Jim loved kids, and was a Summer Grove football coach for 2nd and 3rd graders in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was an avid fisherman and LSU football fan.
A funeral is scheduled for 10:30am April 15, 2015 at Lake Houston Church of Christ, with a lunch to follow. Associate Minister Cason Pearce will officiate the ceremony, with an internment to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Humble, Texas. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jim’s life.
