OBITUARY

Benjamin Ryan Connell, age 30, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 17, 2017, after a courageous 2-year battle with brain cancer. The son of Mark and Leisa Connell, he was born on May 13, 1987 in Houston, Texas. Ben grew up in Kingwood, Texas, and attended Kingwood High School. He was a member of the KHS Mighty Mustang Military Marching Band (KM4B) playing trumpet, and the National Honor Society. After graduating with honors in 2005, Ben attended Texas A&M University, studying Chemical Engineering. He was currently attending the University of Houston while working at CenterPoint Energy as a SCADA Computer Analyst.

Ben was a life-long member of Forest Cove Baptist Church which became Second Baptist Church, North Campus. During his 2-year battle with cancer, his faith and confidence in God grew stronger and never wavered. He was determined to be a blessing to everyone he came in contact with and continued to be faithful to his friends, family and his Lord. Ben’s life verse was Philippians 1:21 – “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” This verse was on his high school letter jacket and was also part of his email address.

The joy of his life was his beautiful 3-year old daughter, Abigail, whom he loved with all his heart. She was his pride and joy. He was a wonderful daddy. Ben was also a loving son and great big brother. He was a dear and loyal friend to many. Ben was known for his great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh. Some of Ben’s hobbies included cooking and eating new culinary dishes from different countries. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family with his culinary skills. Ben also enjoyed gathering with friends and family, playing board games, video games, poker and disc golf.

Ben is survived by his daughter, Abigail Grace Connell; parents, Mark and Leisa Connell; brother, Jonathan Connell, wife Kelsey and son Lane Stetson Connell of Gatesville, TX; brother, Samuel Connell of Kingwood, Texas; grandmother Ozella Minnick of Kingwood, TX; grandfather Harold Minnick and wife Karla of Arlington, TX; and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly.
