Along with many other family members and friends. Donnie was a veteran who served in the United States Army during WWII.

rn

Donnie Delafuente worked as a local truck driver with the same company for 40 years. He worked hard but always made time to grow a vegetable garden and have fruit trees. His lemon tree has been famous for years for producing some of the best and largest lemons ever seen. And from the bounty of his vegetables and fruit, everyone enjoyed. He loved sharing and made sure that anyone who knew him received a portion.

rn

Every year he would take his family on wonderful vacations, driving for days, camping, and seeing all they could take in along the way. He also loved hunting and fishing every chance he got.

rn

Donnie could find a treasure wherever he went and come home and replicate it for you. The grandchildren have received many great gifts from the Pawpaw that could make anything. He could figure out how to make something work better and make the tool necessary for the job. If it could be built; he could construct it.

rn

He loved music and festivals. You could be sure to find Donnie and his wife Sidney at almost every one within a day’s drive, camping for the weekend, or sometimes the entire week.  He passed his love for music on to his children and grandchildren, for at any family gathering there is sure to be someone playing a guitar and singing.

rn

Donnie gave his life to Jesus in May of 1960.

rn

Since then, he has studied, taught Sunday school, served as Deacon in his church, and raised his family with the Word of God.  He was also part of the Prison Ministry team every Monday night for the past 18 years.

rn

Donnie went on a mission trip to Mexico in 2014, getting his passport and flying on his 1st commercial airline, proving that you are never too old to serve.

rn

Donnie loved to help wherever needed. He supported his local church and youth group, and many international children’s ministries.

rn

Donnie never met a stranger and always had a smile and a question for you.

rn
