OBITUARY

Robert George Dunn, 1938 – 2018, Robert “Bob” Dunn, age 80, died while at home on August 11, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.  He will always be remembered for his giving nature and the consummate provider for his family.

Bob served for six years in the U.S. Navy as a Naval Corpsman attached to the US Marine Corps. While in the US Navy, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. Bob’s career path included over six years in the US Navy, over ten years with Eastman Kodak – Industrial Imaging Division and 30 years with his own company, RG Dunn & Associates, as a supplier of NDT equipment, materials and consulting services.  He was an active member of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) both nationally and in the Greater Houston ASNT local chapter. In 1980, Bob was recognized with the ASNT Fellow Award to acknowledge and honor his outstanding service in the field of nondestructive testing. In October of 2016, the Greater Houston Chapter of ASNT recognized him for over 50 years of membership & commitment to the NDT industry. He enjoyed playing golf at any available occasion, poker and was an avid follower of Astros baseball and Houston Texans Football. He was past member of the Knights of Columbus and a long standing parishioner at St. Martha’s Catholic Church in Kingwood and participated in many ministries over the years.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Norman Percival Dunn and Elizabeth Amanda (Rockwell) Dunn.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy; children John, William, Robert & Elizabeth Dunn-Hall, seven grandchildren Lillian Dunn, Robert, Patrick, William and Amanda Dunn, Spencer & Chanci Hall; and his sibling sister Joan Dunn-Lancaster.

A simple funeral mass will be held at St. Martha’s Catholic Church located at 4302 Woodridge Pkwy, Porter Texas on Saturday, August 18th at 1pm.

A private family interment service will be held at the Houston Veterans Administration Cemetery in North Houston for this his long standing patriotism & service in the US Navy. The service, with full military honors, will be conducted by the VFW in the next few days.
