OBITUARY

Nieves Duque-Padron (“Nenita”), 79, of Miami, Florida passed away February 9, 2015 in Kingwood, Texas.

Nenita was born in Havana, Cuba on March 12, 1935 to parents Jose Duque and Balentina Maria de las Nieves Camacho. She grew up and made lifelong friends in Havana prior to the Cuban Revolution.  In the mid-1960’s, Nenita fled Cuba and reestablished her home in Venezuela working as a Re-Insurance Manager for Seguros Avila. Nenita reconnected with and married Raul Padron on January 5, 1989 following years of separation.  The couple enjoyed living in Arlington, Virginia, where Raul worked for the Inter American Development Bank until retirement, and they spent their summer months in South Beach, Florida. Following Raul’s passing in 2005, Nenita relocated to Miami, FL where she lived independently and spent time with friends.

Nenita enjoyed traveling, hosting parties for family and friends, and sewing.  She will be remembered for the constant love and kindness she always expressed toward her family and friends.

Nenita is survived by her brother, Jose Duque Camacho of Puerto Cabello, Venezuela;         stepsons, Jose Raul Padron of Maplewood, NJ and Ricardo Padron of Charlottesville, VA; nephews and nieces, Georgina Camacho of Miami, FL, Ana Camacho of Escondido, CA, Jose Antonio Camacho of Asturias, Spain, Jose Carlos Duque of Kingwood, TX and Rosamary Duque of Caracas, Venezuela.; their spouses and 7 grandnephews and nieces; as well as lifelong best friends Oilda del Castillo and Virginia Garcia.  Nenita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raul Padron; and her brother, Antonio Camacho.

A celebration of her life will take place later this year in Miami, Florida.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Houston Hospice at houstonhospice.org or a charity of your choice.
