Mary M. Griffin went home to be with her Lord, Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Griffin, infant son, Charles Griffin Jr and her parents Rev. Hugh and Omah Montgomery. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Ramzel, James (Billy) Griffin, Beverly and husband, Roger Bradshaw, her special son. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan, Angela, Jason, Suzy, Justin. and numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mary was also preceded in death by an infant brother Charles and 9 siblings and their spouses, Ray Montgomery and wife Ruby, Hugh Montgomery and wife Carrie, Milton Montgomery and wife Dorthy, Robert Montgomery and wife Aileen, Bill Montgomery and wife Truby, Lloyd Montgomery, Gladys Harris and husband Ben and Faith Shoen. She is also survived by her siblings, brother, George Montgomery, sister Grace and husband Bill Watson.
Mary and her husband, Charles were part of the funeral profession for over 40 years. They had two funeral establishments during those years, Brookwood Funeral Home and Houston Memorial Funeral Home. During the later years Mary decided to obtain her funeral and embalming licenses and graduated from the Common Wealth College of Mortuary Sciences. Her first job, at the age of 16, was working for the ration board, then she went to several car dealerships working in the capacity as an office manager. After Charles’ death, she decided to leave the funeral profession and worked as an office manager for Metropolitan Furniture until she was forced to retire due to medical constraints in 2008. She loved to read mysteries, working crosswords, watching game shows and she kept alive her strong Christian faith with GOD.
Service is Thursday, April 21, 2016, viewing will start at 11 am, with the service at 1pm at the Darst Funeral Home , 796 Russell Palmer Drive, Kingwood, TX, 281.312.5656.
Visitation: A visitation was held on 2016-04-21 at Darst Funeral Home.
