OBITUARY

A man with an enormous heart, James Craig Harrington, 63, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, from a heart attack starting at his home in Kingwood, Texas.

rn

Craig was born in Beaumont, Texas on December 17, 1952 of and preceded by his parents, J. C. and Geraldine W. Harrington. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Marie Faul Harrington; his 3 children and 10 grandsons; James Christopher Harrington and his wife, Gulbanu of Kingwood and his grandson Jameson Connor; Joseph C. Harrington and his wife, Erika of Kingwood and his 6 grandsons, Jayce, Christian, Dylan, Isaac, Ethan, and Evan; J’me Marie Rutherford of Prairieville, LA and her husband, Greg and his 3 grandsons, Brock Hunter, Alec Morris, and Cooper James. Craig was a devoted and loving husband, father, friend to all, and warmly known as “Pawpaw” to many other children that were welcomed into the family with open arms.

rn

Additionally, Craig was survived by his 5 older brothers, Gerald W. Harrington and his wife, Elaine of Oakdale, Kent Patureau and his wife, Marie of Temple, Elmo Patureau and his wife, Lora of Baton Rouge, Gerald Patureau and his wife, Vickey of Hampshire, Texas, Michael Patureau and his wife, Donna of Morgan City, LA. A clue on how large his blood and extended family is, he had 75 nieces and nephews. He had many pets over the years but the last was the family’s miniature schnauzer, Levi Morgan, that he affectionately called Leroy.

rn

His life is could be summed up by 3 things: the product of the love he showed for his wife and family, the ingenuity and integrity in his work in industrial engineering, but most importantly his desire to always remain a man of God and be in his presence and share it with others. Let’s us never forget his child-like playfulness and personality. For 3-word descriptions, you could say that he was a bullishly gentle giant with a heart for God, and the family’s king of hearts.

rn

Some of things he enjoyed were evident throughout his life like Cars (SCCA Racing), Golf, Fishing (with his grandchildren) Sailing, Movies (especially sci-fi), Cooking, Politics and his calling to Evangelical Missions and Teachings. He rebuilt his first car when he was 12, flew an airplane at 14, designed and built a geodesic dome house, and was always inventing new and better ways to engineer the world around him. Craig was even elected in 2000 as a member of the Republican State Central Committee to represent the 32nd District of Louisiana.
