Orville (Oscar) Anderson Hewitt was born on February 2, 1943 (Ground Hog Day) in Starville, Texas, raised with 9 other brothers and sisters until age 8 when he moved to a foster home in Jacksonville, Tx. He was independent and strong willed from an early age and at age 18, Oscar moved to Houston to start his adult life.

For most of his life he worked as general manager for several large companies and after 20 years with a wholesale florist, in 1996 he joined his wife, Louise at their retail flower shop, until they both retired in 2013.

Oscar volunteered  in several ministries at Lakewood Church, where his heart for spreading joy and happiness shined.  Oscar was always very comical and knew exactly what to say to make you smile. He had a zest for life and was adventurous.
He was passionate about animals and for the past 31 years was dedicated in the rescue, care and adoption of injured, stray and abandoned animals in his community.

His favorite mode of travel was cruising and he enjoyed visiting many different parts of the world. Oscar was very outgoing and never met a stranger.

For 13 years he was a caring and attentive single father.

He left his two daughters Shelley and Tina, memories they will always hold dear to their hearts.

His love and adoration for his wife, Louise, of 29 and a half years was constant.
He cherished his family with a love that could not be contained. He was very proud of his two granddaughters, Anisah and Emily and actively pursued interest in their lives.

In the last two years, Oscar became a huge sports fan watching all types of games.  He seemed content with the life he and Louise had built together. His love for God and country was often discussed.

Loosing Oscar has brought a void in the family, but knowing he is in no pain and with his heavenly Father brings peace to us all.
