Sydney Nichole Hutchinson, 21, passed Thursday, February 8, 2018 after a valiant ten-month battle with cancer.

Sydney had a deep passion for animals, and in particular, horses. There wasn’t a thing about horses she didn’t know, and she enjoyed breaking, training and owning them. She loved to rescue and rehabilitate animals of all kinds and many a funny story can be told of injuring herself while taking care of them. (She chose the horse over the hospital more than one time!)

Sydney graduated in 2015 from Humble Christian School, where she played volleyball, and ran cross-country and track. She was very driven, determined, independent and proficient at everything she attempted. She was gifted musically, and played piano and violin. She had an incredible work ethic and cared well for those she worked with. Sydney was also selfless; she inspired other people, saw the good in everyone, and would give you the shirt off her back without question. She was very optimistic, embraced the beauty of the moment, and had many future plans.

Sydney’s legacy lives on through her parents, Nate and Patty Hutchinson; her brothers Tristan and Forrest; her boyfriend, Josh Bowers; her grandparents Maria Santillana, Godfrey Santillana, Jan Hutchinson, Marilyn Ponce, Eulises Roman, Kathy Blevins; her great-grandmothers Rosa Maria Rodriguez and Mary Matz; her great-grandfathers Mauro Santillana and Phillip Matz, Sr.; and a huge extended family. She joins in heaven her grandfather R. Keith Hutchinson; and her great-grandparents Pedro Roman, Carmen Maria Torres, Luis Manuel Cortez, Frida Santillana, Shirley Anita Hutchinson and Ronald Francis Hutchinson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Kingwood, TX at Darst Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Kingwood, TX at Christ the King Lutheran Church. A 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. visitation will precede the funeral
