Filomena was a master of her home, her family, and her crafts. She cultivated beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She was a gourmet cook and meticulously re-created Old World Italian feasts. And she was an expert seamstress with a passion for crocheting intricate works of art.

Filomena was also a loving mother and grandmother. In 1984, “Nonna” moved to Houston, Texas to live with her daughter Domenica’s family and help raise her grandchildren. She patiently and attentively looked after two energetic bambinos. She taught them Italian phrases, how to cook their favorite treats, and that it was possible to grow giant fruit trees from seeds!
