It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Denise on July 23, 2018.  We will always remember the incredible strength and bravery of her final days as she battled a sudden onset of illness.  At the age of 61, she departed this life in the comfort of her parent’s home surrounded by her family and friends.

Denise was born on May 14, 1957, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Charles and Ethel Nicholas.  At the early age of 2, she began her academic career at Martinez Pre-School.  She later went on to study at Sacred Heart and St. Mary of the Angel Elementary schools.  She received her high school diploma from St. Joseph Academy and her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Xavier University.  She was a licensed Pharmacist in Louisiana and Texas.

rn

Denise was united in marriage to Joseph A. Jackson Sr.  From their union they were blessed with three sons: Joseph A. Jackson II, Jeremy A. Jackson and Jared A. Jackson.  Denise was a beautiful, friendly, loving person and a devoted mother, daughter, sister, cousin and niece.  She loved her sons and her family dearly.  She worked hard to provide a supportive and loving home to her children.
Denise was an excellent cook and had a flair for decorating.  Denise’s warm caring disposition encouraged family, friends and even strangers to feel comfortable holding a conversation with her no matter where she went.  She would often say, “I must have ‘speak to me’ written on my forehead.”  However, those who knew her will tell you that was her beautiful smile that lit up a room and made you want to talk to her.

rn

Denise spent her childhood and most of her adult life in New Orleans, Louisiana.  After graduating from Xavier University, Denise worked for Schwegmann, Veterans Administration and Save-a-Center Pharmacies.  Anyone who knew her would tell you that she loved being a pharmacist.  Whether a customer or a family member she was always available to help.  Denise lived briefly in New Iberia, Louisiana following hurricane Katrina and then moved to Longview, Texas to work for CVS Pharmacy.
After leaving Longview, she moved to Kingwood, Texas where she continued to work for CVS until her untimely passing.

rn

Denise was a charter member of the “Top Ladies of Distinction Organization.”  She enjoyed traveling in the states and abroad.  She said her trip to Italy was one of the most beautiful experiences she had ever experienced in all her travels.  Denise also never met a red dress she didn’t like.  Red was always her color of choice.  Red made her feel bold and spicy to match her sassy attitude.  In addition to traveling, she loved music, dancing and watching her New Orleans Saints football team.

rn

Denise leaves in God’s hands her loving parents, father, Charles E. Nicholas, mother, Ethel E. Nicholas, her loving sons: Joseph A. Jackson II, Jeremy A. Jackson and Jared A. Jackson, and her brother, Charles E. Nicholas II (Pamela), a niece, Chelsea M. Nicholas and a nephew, Chad A. Nicholas, as well as a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and other extended family members.
