OBITUARY

John Howard Jaynes, age 71, of Angleton, Texas passed away January 18, 2019 surrounded by beloved family after a brief illness.

Mr. Jaynes was born in Houston, Texas on February 14, 1947 to Claude and Frances Jaynes.

rn

He proudly served in the US Army and was a Vietnam War Veteran.

John was a hardworking man with a good work ethic; he spent his years working as a longshoreman at the Houston Ship Channel, with the State of Texas as a correctional officer, at Brazoria County as a detention officer and bailiff, and lastly as a Safety Officer with a local chemical plant.

John was a quiet, private man who loved to fish and could meticulously cook the best fried fish and shrimp in Texas.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, to attend motorcycle rallies and supporting a local law enforcement motorcycle club.

John’s greatest love, however; was his children and grandchildren.  He beamed with pride when seeing them, talking to them or about them.  Nothing brought him greater joy than being with family, spending time at holidays, and to cheer on the Houston Texans together.

Mr. Jaynes is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas Jaynes and sister Jewell “Judy” Alves.

He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Stacy and Jeremy Thomas; daughter Andra Cooper, son and daughter in law, Troy and Beth Todd.  Grandchildren: Mandra Chan (Doug), Kevin Rosner (Karen), Justin Rosner (Katie), Zachary Conrad, Craig Cooper, Alyssa Thomas, Justin Thomas, and Madison Thomas.  Great grandchildren: Cameron Chan, Grayson Rosner, and Baby Rosner on the way. Ex-wife who remained a friend, Sandra Jaynes. Brother Sonny Jaynes (Margy), numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-dog Jaxx, his buddy.
