Nell Liberda entered life on April 28, 1931. She was born in Lone Grove and grew up in Llano during her youth with her family. Her father was a judge and the postmaster general as well as the superintendent in Llano. Her mother was a teacher. Nell’s spirit is carried on by her one daughter, two grandsons, grand-daughter n law and great granddaughter. We were blessed to learn so many life lessons from her over the years. She always tried to instill family values in all who knew her. Some lessons important and reminiscent of her Were-Pray for everyone even about the littlest things, stay positive about everything, keep the Lord first in your heart, hold fast to your family and guard it well, and always enjoys dogs in your home!

She also taught us to stay organized, read all directions and instructions, that Thanksgiving/Christmas dressing is always best made and frozen beforehand, never walk out the door like you just rolled out of bed, and treat everyone the same whatever the circumstance. Keep your money close to you and save-don’t spend it on the latest whim.

Above all never open someone else’s mail, always send a handwritten note to someone even in the midst of all the texting and emails, honesty is the ONLY policy, and remember to keep yourself healthy and of strong mind for” you never know what is around the corner.” Raised in Llano Texas she was a graduate of Southwestern University in Georgetown and an elementary teacher for well over thirty years. Parents always requested her as their child’s teacher for she was so innovative, difficult, and good with her students. She won an exemplary award from the State of Texas in teaching due to her teaching skills. Her family also benefited from some of those fun activities which included hatching chickens every single year at home as well as school.

She loved her family and was so proud of her grandson’s accomplishments and growth. She never missed one school party, school activity, or sport game. In the last year of her grandson’s senior year football games even though she could not walk, you would see her in her jeep at the top of the hill at Kingwood Park with her dog and her binoculars watching the football game.

She always instilled learning lessons with her family and we will take those with us for the rest of our life. Even in her last painful years, she showed strength, grace, and dignity. She was truly a remarkable “Texas” woman.

She is survived by her only daughter, Danell Fields, grandsons Jess Jr. and Jay, granddaughter n law, Courtney, and great granddaughter Lacey. Nieces and Nephews, Terri, Greg, Gary, Barry, Gay, Emma, lan, Keisha, and Tracy. (spouses Scott and Kristen) plus numerous extended family and friends that are not forgotten.

Nell is reunited with her husband, confidant, lifelong love, comedic sidekick, and cowboy Dan, her steadfast brothers Jimmy and Mason Box, (spouses Virginia and Marie) and her parents Judge Andy and Birdie Box.

She left a truly special memory for all who knew her. She will be in our hearts forever.

Funeral: A celebration of life was held on 2016-10-15 at The Gardens at Darst Funeral Home. Sharing of food and fond memories immediately following service.
