OBITUARY

Elton Elum Lockwood was born August 28, 1924, in Bishop, TX and passed away February 11, 2017, in Kingwood, TX at the age of 92.  Elton served his country during World War II as a medic in the Philippines and during the occupation of Japan for the U.S. Army.  After returning home he married his wife of 54 years, Anita Herring Lockwood and together they raised two children.  He was employed by Celanese Chemical Company where he worked as a pipefitter and maintenance scheduler for 41 years.  After retiring, he spent a great deal of time at his beloved family ranch along with his children and grandchildren.  Elton was a lifelong resident of Bishop, TX.  Elton was a Mason, and a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church for 66 years.  On February 11, 2016, he came to live closer to his son Dave and wife Donna in Kingwood, TX where he enjoyed being near family and not having to cook his own meals.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Anita; daughter, Carol Gay Carney and his parents, Elum and Hilda Lockwood. He is survived by his son, Dave Lockwood and wife Donna; grandchildren Brad Lockwood, Dana Lockwood White and husband Vince, Ryan Lockwood and wife Taylor, Michelle Yeglin and husband Jeremy, and Megan Carney and his six precious great grand girls; Jordan Lockwood, Ashton Lockwood, Zoe Lockwood, Eva Lockwood, Kayla Lockwood and Cameron White as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Kingwood United Methodist Church with a one hour visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. in the church parlor with a reception to follow the service.

Mr. Lockwood will be interred alongside his wife in Restland Memory Park in Bishop, TX on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. A reception for his lifelong friends and the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Bishop will follow.
