Matthews, Steven B

Steven Bradly Matthews
December 19, 1960 – June 14, 2016

Steven Bradley Matthews walked the streets of gold on Thursday, July 14, 2016 in The Woodlands, Texas.  Steven attended Big Spring High School and earned an Associates degree from TSTI Sweetwater. Steven worked over 9 years for Site One as a warehouse manager in Houston.  Steve’s beautiful smile, infectious laughter and zest for life will serve as a reminder to those that loved him. His memory will serve as an example to others of a life will lived with intention and purpose. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Heinen of Houston, with whom he has shared his life for the last 15 years.  He is survived by his mother, Shirley Matthews of Big Spring; brother, Joe D. Matthews of Houston, sister, Jana Merrill of Dallas, step daughters, Michelle Crow and Ashley Vela, both of Houston, son, Jeremy Matthews, daughters, Chelsea Simms, Jordan Matthews and Erica Newton, grandsons, Thorin and William Crow and Joshua and Ricky Matthews, granddaughter, Madison Crow, along with many sweet nephew, nieces and great nephews. Steve was also expecting another granddaughter in October.  Grampy loved all his babies and they were his pure joy.  Steve was also a loving father to his four legged children, especially Buttons, who has been his loyal companion for the past 8 years, Brutus, PeeWee and Freeway.  Known for his passion for golf and his famous BBQ ribs, his time was always with his friends and family.  Most of the family and Big Spring friends know Steve by his nickname “Bear”.  The name described many qualities of Steve, but he most endearing was his “Bear” hugs.  Steve’s greatest joy being with his family. He was a devoted son and brother; life will not be the same without him.
He attended Gateway Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. He was preceded in death by her father, Joe B. Matthews and sister, Pamela A. Matthews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made PGA charities at benefiting youth/children or your favorite charity.
