Sylvia Hurst McAdams, 78, entered into eternal rest on November 7, 2015, in Kingwood, Texas. She was born in Freer, Texas on September 18, 2015 to Minnie Will and David Byron Hurst, Sr.

As a child, Sylvia lived in Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana. She graduated from Morgan City High School in Morgan City, Louisiana in 1955. She continued her education at the Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now known as University of Louisiana – Lafayette.

In 1957, she married the love of her life, Arley Ray McAdams. As they started out their young lives together, they explored and lived in various places including cities in Louisiana, Colorado and Australia. They had three sons; Arley Blake, Gregory Byron and Timothy Neil.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Arley, and sister, Bonita Jones, of New Orleans.

She is survived by her brother, David Byron Hurst, Jr. (wife, Gay) of Charlotte, NC.; sons: Arley Blake McAdams (wife, Robin), Greg McAdams (wife, Robin) and Tim McAdams; grandchildren: Arli (Phillip) Shults, David McAdams, Connor McAdams, Amanda (Britt) Ellard, Abbie McAdams, Maggie McAdams; great-grandchild: Ben Ellard; nieces and nephews: Kristen Hurst, Kim Hurst, Kerry Hurst, Tad Jones, Martha Menge and Nancy Jones; along with numerous great nieces and nephews, relatives and a host of friends to cherish her memory.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Darst Funeral Home in Kingwood, Texas. A graveside burial will follow on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 10:15 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingwood Church of Christ: 2901 Woodland Hills Dr., Kingwood, Texas 77339. A reception will immediately follow in the Family Life Center.
