OBITUARY

Thomas “Tom” Arthur Mohr was born March 10, 1924, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and died at home in Kingwood, Texas, on January 23, 2017.  Wisconsin was home for 47 years, but he and wife Betty called many places home including Arlington, Texas; Montgomery, Ohio; Nacogdoches, Texas; San Angelo, Texas;  and Little Rock, Arkansas.  Kingwood has been home since 1988.  His 40-year career in manufacturing management included 28 years with  RT&E Corporation and was followed by many years of positions which utilized his great home improvement and repair expertise.

A member of The Greatest Generation, Tom served in WWII with the famed 10th Mountain Division supporting ski troopers, in his words, “at the back end of a mule.”  He remained active in the 10th Mountain Division until his death having once served as the President of the Armadillo Chapter.

Tom is survived by his wife of 68 years Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Schmitz Mohr, for whom he provided diligent care in her battles with cancer and dementia. Together they raised seven children. His daughter Mickey preceded him in death.  His surviving children are Maureen Mohr of Fort Collins, Colorado; Mark (Nanci) Mohr of Cypress, Texas; Meri (Randy) Crapsey of Bailey, Colorado; Lynn (Larry) Lucas of Kingwood, Texas; Tommy (Carolyn) Mohr of Cypress, Texas; and Sally (Tracy) Brown of Mansfield, Texas. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Audrey Olbrantz of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Pat Mortensen of Greendale, Wisconsin.  He was preceded in death by his brother Jim Mohr.

rn

He had tremendous pride in his children, instilling in them a strong work ethic, the value of education, an understanding of finances, and most importantly common sense life skills.  An accomplished handyman who could repair or build nearly anything, he loved sharing his talents with his children and grandchildren.

rn

Tom enjoyed bowling in past years, still enjoyed playing poker and was an ardent Packer backer.
