OBITUARY

Lawrence “Bob” Nelson Jr., 78, answered his Heavenly Father’s call on March 06, 2015, after bravely fighting a lengthy battle with illness. God has welcomed him home saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant (Matt. 25:23).

Lawrence was born on September 13, 1936, in Houston to Lawrence Nelson Sr. and Bertha Nelson.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Alma Huval and Erma Parker.

Lawrence is survived by Fay Nelson, his wife of 58 years; his son and daughter-in-law Layne and Kerri Nelson; his daughter and son-in-law Lynette and Joel French; his five grandchildren Zachary French and wife Sarah French, Brandon Nelson, Brittany Nelson, Rachel French, and Bryce Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence spent fifty years of his life working in the freight forwarding business.  He began this career when he was a teenager working as an office boy at HL Ziegler.  Diligently working with a spirit of excellence, Lawrence earned his way up the ladder to Vice President.

On May 20, 1955, Lawrence surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. On May 23, 1955, he met Fay. They joined their hands in marriage on August 10, 1956. Over the past 58 years, both Lawrence and Fay have faithfully served many positions in an Assembly of God church. Lawrence touched countless lives and was a genuine example of what it means to be a true man of God.

No matter how sick he was, Lawrence showed his relentless faith in God by telling everyone that, “All is Well.” Lawrence fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Tim 4:7).

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 10th from 6 pm – 8 pm at Humble First Assembly of God Church at 1915 FM 1960 Bypass Road East, Humble, TX 77338.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, at 9 am at Humble First Assembly of God Church with burial following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
