Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Allison Atwell, his parents, Monte and Joann Pence, his siblings Melinda, Melissa, and Matt, and his children, Kurtis, Jennifer, and Lanna. Mark was born on January 29, 1961 in Wilmington, Ohio. He spent his childhood getting into “no trouble at all” with his siblings in Ohio and West Virginia. He excelled at football, and went to Bowling Green State University to play. He graduated and moved to Houston, Texas, where he soon started his career with Mustang Caterpillar. He worked for over 30 years at Mustang Caterpillar, a job he both loved and was very successful at.

Mark loved Jesus, NASCAR, football, and his family. His favorite team was the Houston Texans (thanks for the win last weekend) and he would watch every Sunday. He was also a huge NASCAR fan, and would delight in watching his family fall asleep on the couch next to him while races were on. His family was everything to him. Mark would frequently host family parties, and would make it a priority to stay in close touch with his parents, siblings, and children. There will be nobody that can fry a Thanksgiving turkey quite like Mark Pence.

Most of all, Mark was a man of Christ. He did not just follow the teaching of the church on Sunday, he was a man that lived his life for Christ 24/7. He was a disciple as well as a teacher, and would spend time speaking with others about the love of Christ and how it had changed him for the better.

One of the most meaningful verses in the Bible to Mark was Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Throughout his battle with pancreatic cancer, Mark was not afraid.
